The Army maintains a "zero tolerance" policy on illicit drug use as it poses a continuing threat to Army's ability to sustain operational capability by undermining safety, morale, security, and the public perception of Army. In order to provide a safe environment for personnel, CA Lt-Gen Peter Leahy has authorised the introduction of an Illicit drug testing program to detect illicit drug users within our ranks.
