AFTER the ASCA National Team was selected, it played the Queensland
Under-19s Team in a two-day match.
Again,
Defence batsmen struggled on the slow wicket with the bowlers dominating
the carnival.
The
first day's play was even and, as a result seemed unlikely, a decision
was made to change the two day match to a one day event the following
day.
The
U19s scored 259 runs from their 50 overs and ASCA, which was cruising
at 4/150, were finally all out for 165.
This
carnival was the first selection process for the impending tour
to the UK by the National Team, anticipated to be in July 2005,
which will retrace the steps of the first Services' side to tour
there in 1945.
