THE ADF Long Course Triathlon Championships were recently conducted
at the Sydney International Regatta Centre and consisted of a 1.9km
swim, 70km cycle and 15km run.
The
competitors went through the swim 1500m mark in near record time,
with the first competitor Pte Eliot from 3RAR emerging from the
water in 27min 39 sec for the 1.9km swim.
On
his heels was Flt-Lt Weller from DPC-C in 28min 21sec, then Sgt
Davis from SME in 28min 30sec.
Sgt
Davis quickly found himself in the lead on the cycle leg, recording
the third fastest cycle time with 1hr 56min 3sec at an average of
36.5km/h.
The
fastest individual time was Maj Rudd from RTC SQ in 1hr 52min 47sec
which was also the second fastest time overall.
Going
into the run leg Sgt Davis held the lead of 3min 11sec over Maj
Rudd.
The
fastest team run time was Cpl Wayne Heath from 1HSB in a time of
52min 47sec.
The
fastest Individual run time was Flt-Lt Gardiner from 76SQN in a
time of 56min 14sec.
Team
Bernoth was the first over the line in a total time of 3hr 31min
37 sec.
The
second team was the S.O.F1 from 4RAR(Cdo) finished in 3hr 35min
19sec.
In
the female race Pte Goodall recorded a cycle time of 2hr 6min 56sec
and Capt Christina Van der Hulst recorded a time of 2hr 6min 21sec,
a gain of only 35sec over 70km.
The
ADF team is open to all ARA, reserve, Defence civilians and spouses
of Defence members.
