CA honoured by US staff college

CA Lt-Gen Peter Leahy has achieved a double first by becoming the first Australian inducted into the US Army's Command and General Staff College International Officer Hall of Fame.

Lt-Gen Leahy is also the first officer of any nationality who has been both a student and an exchange instructor at the college.

College Commandant, Lt-Gen William Wallace conducted the induction ceremony at the college in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

"It is a great honour to be recognised by the Staff College," Lt-Gen Leahy said.

"My time here was very rewarding and provided me with an opportunity to learn from some of the best military instructors in the world."

The Hall of Fame was dedicated in 1973.

It provides a prestigious and visible means of recognition to international officer graduates who, through military merit, have attained the highest positions in their respective country's armed forces.

Since then 207 members representing 60 countries have been inducted into the Hall of Fame.
