The head shed goes nude nuts

SEVEN heads and one set of eyebrows were shaved off in the name of charity in Solomon Islands recently.

The eight soldiers, including seven from 2RAR, put themselves up for the shave after more than $SI20,000 was raised by soldiers serving with RAMSI.

The money is to be put in a trust fund for the Solomon Islands Diabetics Centre.

Among the line up of shaved heads at the RAMSI Police and Military Headquarters in Honiara was the Commander of the RAMSI military contingent, CO 2RAR Lt-Col John Frewen.

The 2RAR members volunteered after an extensive money raising effort, which included a raffle. Pte Keith Neylan, C Coy, 2RAR, won first prize in the raffle, which is one night on HMAS Manoora in the VIP Lounge and dinner at the Captain's table.

A local charity is being identified into which that money can be donated.
