Clarification

UNDER Phase 2 of JP129, Airborne Surveillance for Land Operations, Defence plans to acquire a Tactical Uninhabited Aerial Vehicle (TUAV) for focal area surveillance applications.

JP129 Phase 2 is not yet an approved project and, therefore, does not yet have a materiel solution to satisfy the TUAV requirement.

Aerosonde is the manufacturer of the Uninhabited Aerial Vehicles in operation in the Solomon Islands and not the manufacturer of UAVs for JP129 Phase 2, or any other phase, as could be inferred from the web links in the article "Wonderful flying machines" on page 8 of the September 11 edition.

The vehicles in this article were part of Project NERVANA, run by DSTO.
