Australian football
THE Combined Services Football Club plays in the Top End Australian Football Association (TEAFA) Wet Season competition in Darwin. Combined finished third in the competition last season and won the Flag the season before. We are looking for players/coaches/trainers/runners and waterboys of all skill levels to start pre-season in June this year. Navy/Army/RAAF/Civilians and families are welcome at the club, which trains on Tuesday and Thursday with games mostly on Sundays.

Basketball
THIS year marks the 20th anniversary of the Australian Defence Force Basketball Association (ADFBA) as an accredited sporting association. To celebrate the milestone the patron, RAdm Raydon Gates and president Col Tony Cotton extend a cordial invitation to all former participants, competitors and officials alike, to attend this year’s championship in Sydney from October 19-25, culminating in a gala ball reunion on October 25.

THE annual ADF Interservice Fishing Championship will be held from October 17-19 out of Darwin.

Hockey
THE 9th Australian Masters Games are to be held in Canberra from October 31 – November 9, with the ADF Hockey Association entering teams again this year. The major requirement for entry is to be old enough, and for hockey this is 30 years of age at December 31, 2003. Last year three teams (two men’s and one women’s) competed in the World Masters Games in Melbourne and it is hoped the same numbers can be achieved for the Australian Masters. Kayaking
THE Army White Water Association’s annual overseas sea kayak activity will be conducted in the waters of the Dardanelles and Aegean Sea from September 6-21. Participation is voluntary and costs borne by the members. Attendance is open to all military and civilian personnel and no prior experience is necessary. All equipment is supplied.

THE ADF national competition is planned for September 1-5 at Ferny Grove Bowling Club (Brisbane).

Rugby Union
THE Australian Services Rugby Union annual general meeting will be held on September 12 at Russell 1 (R1-4-D011), Canberra from 12-4pm. ASRU committee members, single service unions, referees association and other interested parties are invited to attend. The ASRU executive is looking for personnel to fill key positions for 2003 remaining and season 2004 and beyond. Duties are not expected to be onerous and can be completed within normal working hours. Nominations (addressed to the ASRU Chairman) are called for no later than September 6. All appointments will be made at the ASRU AGM, with successful applicants notified in writing. Shooting
CANBERRA District Army Rifle Association invites all Steyr-qualified soldiers, sailors and airmen, regular or reserve, to come and develop their core skill in an atmosphere of friendly competition at the Duntroon WTSS facility on the first Thursday of every month. Army Soccer
OCTOBER 27-31 – Army soccer trials at Randwick Barracks, Sydney, are being conducted for men’s and women’s open teams and over-30s men’s team.
October 29 – Visiting Royal Engineers team will play the Australian Army Soccer male team at Victoria Barracks, Sydney.
November 1 – men’s and women’s open teams will play a trial game against North Epping Rangers at Christie Park, Sydney.
November 3-7 – National Soccer carnival will be held at Randwick Barracks, Sydney.
