US Marines sign up with Army

From Leut Greg Keeley in Washington DC
A NEW era has begun for the relationship between the Australian Army and the US Marine Corps.

On behalf of the CA, the Australian Military Attaché in Washington DC, Brig Gary Bornholt, signed Terms of Reference establishing formal staff-level talks between the Australian Army and the US Marine Corps.

The Staff Talks will enable annual formal meetings between the two services, which will focus on capability development, warfighting concepts, tactics, techniques and procedures, doctrine, education and individual and collective training opportunities and exchanges.

The Australian Army and the US Marine Corps have much in common in these areas and the establishment of these talks provides a forum at the service level where strategic direction for the relationship can be devised and directed.

The inaugural talks begin in August this year.
