Army
intranet up for IT award
THE
Armys intranet domain is vying with other Government competitors
for the annual Government Technology Productivity Award in Sydney
in September.
The
award is part of the National Technology in Government Conference,
which presents case studies of technology-related projects and initiatives.
Acting
SO2 C4ISREW-A Capt Gregory Novak said the work on the Army intranet,
instigated by Maj David Hanzl and completed during the past three
years, was an excellent example of effective content management
and use of custom software.
By
using content management software and implementing sound web-presence
policies, the Army transformed its intranet presence from an ad-hoc
and unregulated environment to a well-structured and tightly managed
standardised domain, he said.
New
versions of the software have been incorporated that provide greater
functionality and reliability, and the number of unit-developed
and maintained sites continues to grow.
The
conference will run from September 16-17, in Sydney.
