Mechanics pay case assessed in Darwin

MEMBERS from DFRT, DEWR, DSA and ArFFA recently conducted an inspection at 1CSSB in Darwin to assess the RAEME Recovery Mechanic pay case.

The inspection team was treated to various displays of Recovery Mechanics in action. Displays ranged from recovering bogged vehicles, righting a vehicle from its side and culminated with the recovery of a vehicle up a cliff face.

All members of the inspection team acknowledged the skills shown, the level of responsibility and the knowledge required to conduct recovery operations.

The DFRT handed down their determination on November 11, which now sees the remuneration of Advanced Recovery Mechanics increase from pay group three to pay group four with effect from November 21.

Leader of the DFRT team Ian Hueston said he did not see the increase in pay as simply being more money.

“It is recognition of the value the Recovery Mechanic adds to the continued operational capability and effectiveness of the ADF,” he said.

Those members eligible for the pay increase can look forward to seeing the increase in their pay shortly.
