A family that marches in step

By Lt Karinya Kosh
MARCHING out of Kapooka usually turns into a family affair – never more so for father and son pair Ptes Mark and Nolan Ramage who recently marched out together after 42 days of intense training.

Pte Mark Ramage, 42, is a local Wagga Wagga resident who is married with six children and will parade at 5CSSB as a medic.

His son, Nolan, 18, has enlisted as an infantryman with 1/19RNSWR and, after completing high school, plans to apply for RMC.

Nolan’s father is no stranger to military service having served six years in the Navy.

Currently working as a fire fighter and at the local church, Mark joined the Army Reserve with the intent of serving several years in RAAMC before transferring to the ARA as a Chaplain.

He hoped to return to ARTC to take up this role and said his experiences in recruit training would enable him to better assist future recruits undertaking the training themselves.
