Speedy
7 Bde triathletes
A FIELD
of 53 competitors, all Army except for one airman, competed in the
annual south-east Queensland triservice triathalon, sponsored by
7 Bde at Enoggera recently.
Endorsed
by the Australian Services Triathalon Association (ASTA), and as
a lead up to the (now cancelled) ARAFURA Games, the event appeared
to be beyond those Air Force and Navy members throughout the south-east
Queensland region.
The
short course encompassed a 2km run, followed by a 200m swim, 20km
bike ride, back into the pool for a further 200m swim, and finishing
with a 4km run.
Tpr
Jason Crowther, 2/14LHR(QMI), the event in a time of 64.3min. Second
place went to WO1 Richard Armstrong, 7CSR, in a time of 65.35min,
with Maj Jeff Rudd, RTC(SQ), finishing third in a time of 66.19min.
Pte
Hollie Goodall, 1 Fd Reg, was the first female past the post, with
a time of 73.36min, followed by Cpl Adriana Krommenhoek from Carbarlahs
7 Sig Reg with 78.24min and Lt Alison Gordon, 1 JSU, in third place
recording a time of 83.21min.
Team
results were the Tigers first in 74.16 mins, Stubbies second in
67.35 mins, with the female team, Just For Fun, finishing in 89.40
minutes.
According
to race organiser Capt Eric Kerr, those who competed along with
ADF members of any ability are eligible to compete in the forthcoming
annual Noosa triathalon in November.
