Defence gets fresh advice

By Darryl Johnston

A NEW Scientific Adviser Army has been appointed to take over from Phillip James who returns to DSTO Edinburgh in January.

Dr Mike Brennan, of DSTO’s Land Operations Division (LOD), holds a Bachelor of Science with Honours, and a PhD in Atomic and Molecular physics from Flinders University in South Australia.

Dr Brennan joined DSTO in 1995 after ten years as a researcher in atomic and molecular physics, transferring to LOD as one of the initial staff in the division in 1997.

Dr Brennan said he was looking forward to returning to Canberra and was particularly encouraged by the enthusiastic responses received from uniformed colleagues across the ranks.

He said that he would draw on his network of Army and DSTO contacts to improve the focus and timeliness of Science & Technology support to the Army.
