Personnel and Policy

Set sights on SCMA's site

By Maj Jenny Becker

The SCMA web page was developed to provide commanders, administrative staff and soldiers with information, ranging from Career Management to the MECRB process.

All sections within the SCMA organisation are represented in the web site.

This article will provide the browser with a broad outline of information contained within SCMA’s web site at http://sorweb.sor.defence.gov.au/scma/

Each section under the PM Gp heading has an individual page, which provides browsers with the structure, specific responsibilities, roles and missions of each section.

All the sections have links to relevant documents, policy, flow charts and templates.

Each sections page lists contact numbers and e-mail addresses for specific appointments within the organisation.
Within the Admin Area you will find the SCMA handbook.

The SCMA Hand Book is a comprehensive guide that covers subjects like the promotion process, the posting cycle, compassionate postings, return of service obligation, show cause and the management of soldiers medically downgraded to MEC 3 or MEC 4.

The Admin Area contains a SCMA telephone list and a page dedicated to the facilities located in Queenscliff, Point Lonsdale and Ocean Grove for those posted to SCMA.

The site also has a page dedicated to CARO.

Within this page readers are able to find out the requirements needed to obtain information on personnel records dating back to post WW2 to present day.

The CARO page also provides information and contact details for historical data on all ex-servicing mbrs, from personnel records to medals and awards.

The site also provides useful related links and contact addresses.

Of note is the AIEF page that provides APAs with all the information and templates required to manage the AIEF soldiers.
The SCMA web page lists the requirements to action a CFTS application and the relevant references.

For commanders, there is a complete list of Termination Notices templates.

In some cases the SCMA web site is updated daily with new policy, amended templates and information that will help all who manage soldiers.

If you feel that the web page is lacking in any area or that amplification is required on a specific topic please contact the webmaster through the link on the home page.
