Bali Assist members to be recognised

DEFENCE is urgently calling for nominations for awards rising from ADF members’ involvement with Operation Bali Assist last year.

Prime Minister John Howard has directed a whole-of-Government announcement of awards resulting from the Bali tragedy be released near the date of the anniversary in October.

There are no quotas for awards relating to Op Bali Assist but only fully researched and well-written nominations can expect to be successful.

Nominations are to be cleared through two-star officers within Defence groups, service headquarters and commands or at Ambassador/High Commissioner level for members serving overseas in representational postings.

Defence Honours and Awards should receive the nominations by close of business on May 2.

Further information is available from DI(G) Pers 31-5 Australian Defence Force policy for the Order of Australia and Conspicuous Service decorations and from Helen Gouzvaris on (02) 6266 1391.
