THE
Frontline Defence Services Swimming Championships were conducted
recently at Holsworthy Barracks.
A small but vocal crowd of 29 competitors assembled for the event
and were eager to participate in the first ASTA National Swimming
Championships.
Only Freestyle events were conducted over the distances of 100m,
200m, 400m, 800m and 1500m. The mens 100m final was fast and
furious with Lt Crunkhorn, RMC, winning in a time of 59.35sec.
Pte Eliot, 3RAR, won the Mens 200 final in a time of 2min
21:15sec. He went on to win the 400m in a ime of 4min 53.00sec,
800m in a time of 10min 37.58sec and 1500m in a time of 20min 15.58sec.
In the female events, Pte Davidson, JHS-A, was fighting it out with
Flg-Off Lapworth, 3CRU, in each of the events.
Pte Kent, 1HSB, won the 100m in a time of 1min 15.43sec. Flg-Off
Lapworth won the 200m in a time of 2min 47.00sec and the 400m in
6min 03.00sec. Pte Davidson won the 800m in a time of 12min 18.00sec
and the 1500m in a time of 24min 01.57sec.
