WASHINGTON
At the end of the Pentagons 4th corridor is a hallway
display full of memories and shattered dreams.
The corridor and adjacent wedge was destroyed September 11, 2001.
Now rebuilt, work was completed last week on an attack corridor
memorial, now located on the second floor.
The display background is 962 pounds of Pentagon limestone, 2 inches
thick.
With a superimposed acrylic façade with United in memory
United in Freedom.
Memorial coins, and photos and names of all 29 members of those
killed during the Pentagon attack from the office of Assistant Secretary
of the Army and DCSPER.

Imagery
analysts deployed
Six RAAF imagery analysts have been deployed to the Middle East
to assist in Coalition assessments of battle damage in Iraq.
This in response to a request from the US Central Command, which
values highly the specialist skills of ADF analysts.
Support for Defence families
More than 8100 Australians have e-mailed and faxed their support
for our troops deployed in the Middle East as part of the Coalition
to disarm Iraq.
Defence has set up an e-mail address, ourfamilies@defence.gov.au,
to enable a selection of these messages to be posted to the Defence
website. Families are encouraged to monitor the website for the
messages of support.
The messages have been collated and dispatched in hard copy form
to the ships in the Gulf and to Central Headquarters in Qatar where
they have been distributed to units for display in communal areas.
Further details about the initiative can be found on the Defence
website at www.defence.gov.au
Changing ships in the Gulf
HMAS Sydney will be deployed to the Middle East in the near future
to take over from the frigates HMAS Anzac and HMAS Darwin, which
will head home at the end of this month after a six-month tour of
duty. Sydney will join HMAS Kanimbla in the Persian Gulf where both
vessels will contribute to maritime security in one of the worlds
most vital waterways.
