Aiming high

By Maj Michelle Breen

THE ADF Touch Association is in the process of organising two tours for its national opens teams, one to the NSW Country Championships and one to the Arafura Games.

ADFTA will send the national women’s and men’s open teams (as selected at the ADFTA National Championships last December) to the NSW Country Championships to be conducted in Dubbo at the end of May.

Participants would need release for the period May 27 to June 2.

ADFTA will consider nominating a mixed team dependent upon player nominations. Likely cost of the tour is $200 plus uniforms (about $90 for males and $110 for females).

ADFTA also plans to send three teams (women’s, men’s and mixed opens) to the Arafura Games in Darwin from May 17-24. The exact dates for the touch component of the games is TBC.

ADFTA is also seeking nominations for team managers and medical support staff for both tours.

For further information on the championships contact Sgt Chook Smith, on (03) 5735 6875 or e-mail sharon.smith@defence.gov.au.
