5/7CSST have the power

By Cpl Jonathan Garland
KEEPING the equipment running that keeps the soldiers going that keeps the Australian mission in East Timor ticking is the job of the workshops of 5/7CSST at Batugade, East Timor.

Electronics Instrument Repair Cpl, 5/7CSST, Cpl Matthew Thompson said the equipment they saw most in the workshop was the generators the Australians are using to provide power across the country.

“Our biggest problem at the moment is dirty fuel – we’re getting a lot of contaminated fuel coming in,” he said.

“We actually over-service the generators here – every 20 days for the 16kva units and every 10 days for the bigger ones – and just replace the fuel filters to try to control the problem as much as possible.”
