Army rugby league players have dominated selection of the Combined
Australian Services Rugby League (CASRL) team for the upcoming tour
to the UK in November.
A large
and convincingly strong contingent was selected from the Army rugby
league side, following its domination of Navy and Air Force at the
recent National Interservice Carnival in Canberra.
The
Army team won the rugby tri-service competition held recently in
Canberra, earning them the reputation of the ready team.
Army
representation is as follows:
Coach
WO2 Al Lynch
Team Manager Lt James Campbell
Five-Eighth Sgt Brian Jones
Second row Pte Adam Wallace
Utility Back LCpl Michael Green
Fullback Pte Cameron Gray
Lock Cpl Cameron MacKenzie
Second row Tpr Kurt Bryant
Wing Tpr Trent Allen
Wing Tpr Chris Yow
Centre Cpl Cameron Earea
Hooker Lt Chris Woodhouse
Second row Spr Peter Ibbott
Shadow half-back Pte Craig Nicholls
Shadow front row Pte Nick Matthews
These
players were also put to the test during a training session with
the Canberra Raiders following their selection in the CASRL squad.
Coach
WO2 Al Lynch said the team had experience across the service games
and also most players played for the civilian teams in their region.
By
the time the tour comes around the boys will be match fit and focused,
he said.
I
think the Poms will be only just starting their season so hopefully
we will have that advantage.
