Development evolution for Defence SOE

A PROJECT to develop a standard operating environment (SOE) for Defence computer networks has been expanded to include ongoing SOE development.

The project team is now part of a new SOE development section.

The SOE21 project was created to deliver a standard operating environment to Defence for deployment across all security classifications and platforms.

Barbara Bagley, Project Manager DIE SOE (Defence Information Environment – Standard Operating Environment) Section, said the new section could better meet the needs of Defence.

“The original project was a discrete entity with deliverables including a Windows XP desktop and Windows 2000 server and Active Directory,” she said.

The new section will deliver the same functionality the SOE21 project would have done but will also be responsible for the ongoing development of the system.

Rollout of the new SOE is expected to begin from about July.
