A
cool allowance for NT families
ARMY
families in Darwin will be cooler this wet season through a trial
launched recently to offer an air-conditioning allowance to local
ADF families.
The
allowance is already in place for families posted to RAAF Base
Tindal and aims at helping to meet the excessive costs associated
with keeping cool in the hot, humid climate.
The
trial took effect from December 10 last year and is expected to
save ADF families in Darwin about $600 a year.
The
allowance has been implemented after feedback from members and
their families posted to Darwin suggested the harsh climate in
the north was a significant retention issue.
