3CSR’s clear signal to 3 Bde

GREAT service has become better since the formation of 3CSR in Townsville on February 14.

3CSR is the amalgamation of HQ Coy and 103 Sig Sqn with the new regiment comprsing of Spt Sqn and 103 Sig Sqn.

3CSR Adjt Capt Jason Hayes said a formation parade marked the official raising of the unit.

“Previously known as HQ Coy, Spt Sqn’s mission is to protect, administer and maintain HQ 3 Bde and attachments, in order to allow HQ 3 Bde to command and control assigned forces for the conduct of land operation,” he said.

Capt Hayes said Spt Sqn consists of Tech Spt Tp, Defence/Recon Tp and Admin Tp.

103 Sig Sqn’s mission is to provide CIS support in order to facilitate the command and control of 3 Bde.

“The Sqn consists of five troops – Communication Centre, CIS, CNR command, Data and Spt Tp.

“Both units have a long and distinguished history of supporting 3 Bde during peace times and operations. Combined, 3CSR will continue and improve the standard of support.”

Between the units now part of 3CSR they have deployed personnel to Vietnam, Cambodia, Rwanda, Bouganville, Somalia and East Timor, as well as assisting the civil community, most notably in Darwin in the wake of Cyclone Tracy in 1975.
