Lt Adam Easton, 2003 Rhodes Scholar

Signaller named Rhodes scholar

Lt Adam Easton, 103 Sig Sqn, has been awarded one of three Australian Rhodes Scholarships for 2003.

Twenty-three year old Lt Easton is the third ADFA graduate in three years to receive a Rhodes Scholarship.

Rhodes Scholarships are awarded for four criteria – leadership, community service, academic and sporting achievements.

He was awarded a university medal for exceptional academic achievement by the University of NSW last year. Lt Easton was also awarded two major military prizes including the Petro Fedorczenko Bequest for the most outstanding military and academic achievement over three years continuing on to a fourth year in Honours, and the Army Military Training Award for the best performance in military training over three years.

Lt Easton said he would use his studies at Oxford University in England to continue his honours thesis work in military simulation in computer science.

“I found military simulation an exciting area and would like to further develop the research I started last year to its full potential,” he said.
