named Rhodes scholar
Lt
Adam Easton, 103 Sig Sqn, has been awarded one of three Australian
Rhodes Scholarships for 2003.
Twenty-three
year old Lt Easton is the third ADFA graduate in three years to
receive a Rhodes Scholarship.
Rhodes
Scholarships are awarded for four criteria leadership, community
service, academic and sporting achievements.
He
was awarded a university medal for exceptional academic achievement
by the University of NSW last year. Lt Easton was also awarded two
major military prizes including the Petro Fedorczenko Bequest for
the most outstanding military and academic achievement over three
years continuing on to a fourth year in Honours, and the Army Military
Training Award for the best performance in military training over
three years.
Lt
Easton said he would use his studies at Oxford University in England
to continue his honours thesis work in military simulation in computer
science.
I
found military simulation an exciting area and would like to further
develop the research I started last year to its full potential,
he said.
