Defence athletics club launched

ADF Running and Athletics Association launched the Defence Athletics Club (DAC) in Townsville in conjunction with Athletics North Queensland (ANQ) last month.

Association president, Capt Frank Kresse, RAN, said establishing the DAC was a significant step forward.

“The DAC has created for the first time a national approach to athletics by Athletics Australia that overcomes a long-standing deficiency for our Defence athletes,” he said.

“We now have a national-based club which ADF members and Defence civilians can join from anywhere in Australia and be affiliated with Athletics Australia.”

Once registered with the DAC, an athlete’s membership is recognised anywhere in Australia and transportable whenever a person relocates interstate.
