SCMA to follow new path

SCMA Reorganised
In accordance with Army’s three-year cyclic Single Entitlement Document (SED) Review Program, SCMA’s SED was reviewed in September.

The SED Review is the primary mechanism Army uses to implement force structure change.

SEDs are the basic building blocks from which Army produces capability and unless SEDs are accurate, the ability of the Army to express capability and provide units with appropriate levels of personnel and equipment, is compromised.

The review identified several areas within SCMA that were undermanned, particularly within career management.

To address these shortfalls the following new career manager positions have been authorised and will be occupied from January next year:

  • WO1 RAINF to manage Special Forces.
  • WO1 RAEME to manage specialist aviation trades.
  • WO2 RAAPC to manage the pay trades.
  • WO2 RACMP to manage the MP trades
  • WO2 RACT to manage transport trades.

The review also identified the following career manager positions for upgrading:

  • Senior RACT and RAEME career manager positions upgraded from captain to major.
  • RAE Career Manager position upgraded from WO2 to WO1.

The structure of SCMA will change on December 6 with the separation of Personnel Management Group into two discrete groups and the creation of a lieutenant-colonel position to command the new group.

The two groups are:

  • Career Management Group
  • Personnel Management Group

Phone numbers will not change. The SCMA phone directory is available on the Defweb at the SCMA home page, http://sorweb.sor.defence.gov.au/scma/Default.htm

From CO SCMA
Don’t appear on CO SCMA’s desk this holiday season

My most melancholy duty is the signing of soldiers’ and officers’ death certificates. Each certificate represents a life cut short and a loss to the Army and to the individual’s family and friends.

Many of the certificates I sign result from death through vehicle accident. Please be especially careful when travelling over the coming holiday season – your loved ones and the Army need you.

Best wishes for a safe and happy Christmas from all at SCMA.
