LEFT:
Gawler takes on a distinctive military feel, as 3LH (SAMR) APCs
rumble along Murray St, in the week commemorating the 85th anniversary
of the Battle of Beersheba. The unit exercised its Right of
Freedom of Entry to the City, the last time 3/9 LH SAMR did
this was in Unley, South Australia, in 1973.

RIGHT:
The boys from 6RARs 2 Pl, A Coy, tuck into a light breakfast
of Coke and baguettes in the back of a French truck at a military
open day in Kone, New Caledonia. The platoon members displayed
their kit and weapons for the public along with displays from
the Tongan, New Zealand and French armies. They were returning
from Koumac, where they took part in Ex Croix Du Sud.

ABOVE:
CO 3CER, Lt-Col Bill Sowry, with an aerial photograph of the
new training facility at the Townsville Field Training Area.
Constructed by 3CER between September 2001 and October this
year, the new village comprises elements of villages from countries
such as Namibia, Somalia, Rwanda, Bougainville, East Timor and
Afghanistan and will be used as a training facility by ADF personnel.

LEFT:
Maj Keith Parker is awarded a Certificate of Commendation
for the successful 27-tonne Woomera Explosives Trial, by DSTO
First Assistant Secretary Science Policy Dr Tim McKenna. In
the Commendation, the CA noted Maj Parkers tireless
and exemplary performance in carrying out his responsibilities
as trial manager at DTrials.
RIGHT:
Australias Consul-General to Honolulu, Paul Robilliard,
is presented with a cheque by CO JICPAC, Capt Barbara Bowyer
USN. The donation of $1150 to the Australia Bali Relief Fund
has been forwarded to the American Red Cross.
