Paddle, paddle, rest, paddle

Nominations are invited for competitors and ground-crew to compete in the 2002 Inter-Service Canoeing Championships from December 26, 2002, to January 2, 2003, held in conjunction with the Red Cross Murray River Canoe Marathon, covering 400km in five days. Better not lose to the Kiwis

The 2002 ADF National Cricket Carnival will be held in Brisbane from November 13-15. The New Zealand Defence Force has been invited to attend for the first time to compete against the best the Australian Services can muster. At the completion of the carnival, the ADF national team will be named, with matches planned against the Queensland Bulls U19s and the New Zealand Defence Force Team.

On a wing and a prayer for hot air

The Australian Services Gliding Association (ASGA) will conduct the National Inter-Service Gliding Championships at the NSW Riverina town of Leeton from December 27 to January 10. Wild life walking

Special prizes will be up for grabs at this year’s HMAS Penguin Gate to Gate 5km fun run and powerwalk on November 20 at 11am. Entry is free and prizes will become collectables, with certificates issued to all entrants. Entries must be received by November 15 to POPT Peter Swift on (02) 9960 0275.

Hard hitters to battle
