UK soldier dead

UK Ministry of Defence confirmed Fijian-born Pte Tesoni Vakacakaudrove was found dead at the Defence School of Transport, Leconfield, on October 6.

Civilian police are investigating the circumstances and his next of kin in Fiji have been informed.

Pte Vakacakaudrove was one of 1000 Fijian soldiers serving with the British Army. The Army began recruiting the south Pacific soldiers 40 years ago by advertising in the Fijian Times.

Fijian recruits end up serving in all divisions across the Army but some of the most popular postings include The Royal Irish Regiment and Scottish regiments The Black Watch, The Royal Scots and Scots Guards.
