By Lt James Ford
3CSSB conducted its annual family day at the MOUT facility at High Range near Townsville recently.

More than 270 families and friends attended the battalion’s annual event and were treated to comprehensive and realistic displays of life in the field for 3CSSB members.

Organised by Tpt Sqn, the open day aimed to depict a typical combat support service battalion deployment to those family members not familiar with Army exercises.

Each sub-unit was then afforded the opportunity to display its major pieces of equipment, capabilities and characteristics to the audience.

Static displays were conducted by the Tpt Sqn, Admin Coy, Health Coy, Fd Workshops and Fd Sup Coy.

The day culminated in an urban assault demonstration involving a section-sized contact. It displayed the all-corps capability of 3CSSB soldiers.

The displays showed partners and friends of 3CSSB members what life is like out bush.

This family day was well supported by the involvement of more than 300 personnel.

  • 3CSSB will be celebrating its 10th birthday on November 7 with a parade at Lavarack Barracks. Former members and their families have been invited to the parade at 5pm. For further information and RSVPs, contact Adjutant 3CSSB, Capt Brett Dick on (07) 4771 7621.
