Nominations are invited for competitors and groundcrew to compete in the 2002 Inter-Service Canoeing Championships from December 26, 2002 – January 2, 2003, held in conjunction with the Red Cross Murray River Canoe Marathon, covering 400km in five days. Let’s fly

The Australian Services Gliding Association (ASGA) will conduct the National Inter-Service Gliding Championships at the NSW Riverina town of Leeton from December 27 to January 10. The competition accommodates various pilot skill levels ranging from late training and early solo to high experience, with the minimum standard to enter being Silver C (P1 Pilot for Dual). Competition is handicapped and is an ideal way to gain experience for higher-level competitions. If you are moving to Western Australia or have moved over here and you want to play rugby league, why not play for the Rockingham Raiders, who cater for U7s to U18s, Women’s Super Tag, reserve grade and first grade. The season starts in February/March with pre-season training usually commencing in January. Give it the boot

The ADF Inter-Service Men’s and Women’s Soccer Carnival will be held at Randwick Barracks from November 11-15. Selection for Army is November 6-8 at Randwick Barracks, with all nominations for players, managers to WO2 Lister on (02) 9600 4431.

Summer devils

Brisbane Devils Softball Club has started playing summer fixtures and is looking for players in all grades. The club caters for females from the age of six upwards and welcomes members of the Defence force looking for a family-orientated sport to join. The Devils are part of Kedron Wavell RSL and Shaw Sports Ccomplex at Chermside and Kallinga in Brisbane. There is a men’s team in the Brisbane winter competition that welcomes anyone wishing to play.
