Plenty
of future soldiers for Norforce
DARWIN-based
recruiters had a busy but successful weekend at the annual indigenous
Croc Festival in Kununurra, Western Australia talking to 900 students
about an ADF career.
The
community of Kununurra, which is close to the Joseph Bonaparte Gulf
in Western Australia, is well know by soldiers for hosting a number
of major exercises within the region.
Defence
Recruiting Centre Commander for the Northern Territory and Kimberley
region, WO2 Wayne Ryan and ARes staff member Cpl Judy Brittain,
were on hand over the two-day festival to answer the students
queries and discuss possible career options within the ADF.
WO2
Ryan said the two days had been successful especially for Norforce
with about 80 percent of the students wanting to join the unit.
With
an AO that covers about 1.8 million sq km, the small team frequently
finds itself on the road.
We
try to visit most career expos and schools through out the year,
pending the wet season of course, he said.
