SPORTS
fan Michael Weaver was last week appointed as Sports Editor of
the three service newspapers and is now the central point of contact
for all Army and ADF sport.
Michael
has been employed with the service newspapers for the past two
years and had no hesitation putting his hand up to take on this
role.
Previously
Sports Editor of the Bay Post newspaper in the NSW south coast
town of Batemans Bay, Michael has a degree in communication from
the University of Canberra.
But
he also has more than just a working interest in sport –
he played soccer as a youngster before graduating to Australian
football, mixed with surfing and other water sports in between.
And
just so people have something to heckle him with, he is an avid
supporter of the red and whites – Sydney Swans in the AFL
and St George-Illawarra Dragons in the NRL.
Michael
is keen for the sports pages in Army to be more than just the
footy codes and would like to hear from anyone who feels an individual,
team or sporting event deserves a mention.
