New look for officer posting orders

The introduction of PMKeyS will see Posting Orders being released in a new format. The following points highlight the differences between the new posting orders and those that officers are used to receiving.

  1. All message indicators are now contained in line format as opposed to being contained in tables as headers and footers.
  2. The subject line does not include the officer's name.
  3. Posting Order includes the following:
  • PMKeyS Employee number, not a service number.
  • Gender.
  • Service and Service Type. The following codes are used in this field:

REG – for ARA officers,
RES for ARes officers, and
CFTS for officers in full-time service.

Career Manager Work Group. This is purely an internal management field and is not needed for officers to arrange posting action. It is the PMKeyS management group under which officers are administered. The following codes are used in this field:

DOCM3 for Lt-Col,
DOCM4 for Maj - 2Lt,
DOCM5 for Officer Cadets, and
DOCM8 for officers under CFTS.

  • Family is the PMKeyS nomenclature for the posted officer’s corps.
  • Function describes the basic job function of the officer.
  • Sub function which will only be used on or posting orders, and equates to the soldier’s ECN.
  • From and To Unit provides the PMKeyS unit description of the losing and gaining unit.
  • The To Department describes the sub-unit or department the officer is to be posted to.
  • From and To Admin Unit provides the PMKeyS unit description of the unit that was and will being administering the officer.
  • The PMKeyS’ position number is the position to which the officer is being posted to. It replaces the APN.
  • Position Description describes the name of the position to which the officer is being posted.
  • Member being Replaced equates to the vice.
  • Effective Date was known as the WEF. The effective date is not necessarily the march-in date. Annual postings effective date will default to Janurary 1. It is negotiable for a period of 28 days either side of the effective date between the losing and gaining unit.
  • Reason for Posting describes the personal or military necessity for the posting. This field includes Normal, LWOP and LSL.
  • Planned time in locality is given in increments of less than six months, six-12 months or more than a year.
  • Additional Annotations can include removals information, cost centre codes and marital status. PMKeyS provides a number of annotation codes.

These will be introduced over time. A list of these codes and their meaning will be published on the DOCM Webpage before the codes are used.
