Beware
of split loan promotions
You
have your own mortgage you are paying off ever so slowly. And
you hear you can get an investment property and make all repayments
off your own mortgage.
The
concept behind this split loan is that your own mortgage is not
tax effective and there are not any deductions allowed.
Whereas
for an investment property you can have lots of tax deductions,
such as interest on the loan, rates, maintenance, agents
fees, etc. If your deductions are greater than the income (rent)
received, then you are negatively geared and the Australian Taxation
Office (ATO) will give you a refund.
Conducting
your career
Soldiers
should be aware of the consequences of conduct lapses that lead
to administrative or disciplinary action.
Conduct
considered inconsistent with the expectations of the next rank
often result in a withdrawal of promotion clearance, or a failure
at a promotion board.
New
look for officer posting orders
The
introduction of PMKeyS will see Posting Orders being released
in a new format. The following points highlight the differences
between the new posting orders and those that officers are used
to receiving.
WRAs
focus too narrow
Now
that the dust has settled since release of the consultation draft
of the proposed ADF Workplace Remuneration Arrangement (WRA) 2002-2004,
the Federation can respond to feedback received and provide members
with our views of the proposal.
We
wont repeat the content of the proposal in detail- suffice
to say there is an offer on the table of 6 per cent over a period
of 18 months (November 1, 2002, to May 6, 2004) with no trade-offs
asked for.
AIEF
to change by end of this year
In
2001 Parliament passed a number of pieces of legislation to enhance
the contribution the Reserves make to the ADF.
At
the same time amendments were made to the Defence Act 1903 to
modernise the structure of the Army.
