Cabarlah-based
soldiers recently gathered at the re-dedication ceremony of the
Borneo Barracks Outdoor Chapel.
Built
by Borneo Barracks members in 1993, the chapel was originally
dedicated in April of that year by the Anglican Bishop to the
ADF, Bishop Adrian Charles.
Having
commenced in 2001, the chapel refurbishment included replacing
the altar and planting an avenue of pines with plaques in memory
of Borneo Barracks personnel who died during service with the
ADF.
The
chapel also includes memorial stones dedicated to soldiers of
the AIF 11LH and 25 Inf Bn.
Piper
WO2 Gavin Pearce commenced the service, which was conducted by
Chap David Snape, Principal Chap Peter Woodward and the Anglican
Bishop to the ADF, Dr Tom Frame.
Dr
Frame concluded the service by blessing two plaques in the avenue
of pines, dedicated to Maj Bruce Gladman and WO2 Peter Medlicott.
