Hotspots
Over the past week I had a chance to catch up with a friend of mine,
Brad Symes of Palmerston, and he passed on the following good news
on what has been happening in and around Darwin Harbour.
He said the prevailing winds were now starting to drop again in
and around the harbour and the fishing was getting a little bit
better.
He also said some great Golden Snapper have been bagged at the six-mile
marker.
Four weeks ago the harbour produced some quality Trevally up to
the 3kg mark some of the by-catch wasnt bad either
such as Estuary Cod and Spanish Flag.
Darwin to Arafura Sea
Calm days with little to no wind seem to be the best periods to
target our larger northern Pelagics, unfortunately, it is a bit
early in the season but for the lucky few there are still some quality
fish lurking around the wider reefs.
Best baits of late have been the humble Slimy Mackerel and snap-frozen
WA Pilchards.
If you have trouble finding the winter macs, while the weather remains
perfect on our northern waters why not target other reef species
like the Black Jews and Golden Snapper.
The always impressive Northern Blue Fin Tuna have also been showing
up around Fog Bay in good numbers.
