FEDERAL parliament recently completed passage of legislative amendments that provide a greater range of options to government for use of defence reserves and provide protection for reservists in giving service.
DCO funding for families available
COMMUNITY organisations involved in projects benefiting defence families are invited to apply for funding from the Defence Community Organisation for the 2001/2002 grant cycle.

New East Timor defence force takes shape
The first intake of 600 members for the new East Timorese Defence Force (ETDF) have started training at Aileu. Seven ADF personnel make up the Australian Army Training and Support Team East Timor.
Cav sets pace in Timor operations
THE soldiers of B Sqn 2 Cav Regt - part of the 1RAR Bn Gp - are still on the border in East Timor. They have been very successful in assisting the battalion group in keeping the area of operations safe from militia influence but have had to keep up a very high work rate.
Harbourside property given in trust
FIVE defence-owned properties on the foreshore of Sydney Harbour were formally handed over to the Sydney Harbour Federation Trust on March 18.

LIKE many members of the army, I can not understand why we celebrate Reserve Forces Day. I know this will spark a flood of disdain but lets sit back and smell the coffee.
