The
quiet achiever, HMAS Success (CMDR Mark Mc- Intosh), has returned
to Australia from RIMPAC 2004.
The replenishment ship berthed alongside Garden Island on sunny
Friday, August 13.
Relatives and friends welcomed the ship’s company of 223 including
CAPT Stewart Dietrich, CANAASG representing the Maritime Commander,
RADM Rowan Moffitt, and CSO-O, CAPT Greg Yorke.
This year has been diverse for Success, from icebergs on her mission
to Heard Island, TASMANEX, and NZ deployment, to RIMPAC and the
Pacific.
By the end of the year she will have spent a total of nine months
away from home in 2004.
“Glad to be home,” said POCIS Michael Smart, of Canberra, as he
held his two year old daughter Gabrielle.
