With any warship there is a need for a well trained and equipped medical team.

Keeping their skills honed is a must.

So while other members of a ship's company are firing guns or missiles, or tracking submarines or planes, doctors, nurses and medics will also be at drill.

Such was the scenario across the RAN ships which took part in RIMPAC 2000.

Photographer ABPH Damian Pawlenko was in the hangar of HMAS ADELAIDE to snap this image of team of medical personnel tending a mock casualty as part of that ship's disaster training evolutions.
