HMAS Manoora has finished in third place behind two US Navy heavy weights in the RIMPAC Cup 06 sporting competition.
With 38 ships competing, a host of sports were conducted during two block periods during the exercise. Manoora was strongly represented by her ship’s company and recorded podium results in soccer, outrigger canoeing, sailing, surfing, indoor triathlon, golf, men’s kayak and swimming.
First and second places were taken out by USS Abraham Lincoln (ship’s company of 5000 with 540 points) and USS Bonhomme Richard (ship’s company of 3500 with 383 points) respectively with Manoora at an impressive third place with 242 points. Overall points were calculated on event placings and number of personnel participating. A special mention to HMAS Stuart who also finished strongly.
