Golfers search for ‘threepeat’

Volume 49, No. 15 , August 24, 2006

CN VADM Russ Shalders, AO, CSC, RAN, is part of Navy’s team seeking to make it three titles in a row at the 2006 ACT ISS golf series at Mollymook Golf Club on the NSW South Coast from October 23 to 27.

Honours in the series have been shared around over the years but Navy has struck a purple patch in winning the crown for the past two years.
Teams of 12, restricted to permanent Navy, Army and Air Force members will contest individual round robin scratch match play (no handicaps).
Team composition does not normally extend to players holding handicaps higher than 18.

However, players on handicaps higher than 18 should not be discouraged from applying for consideration, as player availability for the week is always taken into account.
This year ISS golf representatives will consider changes to the format. The changes potentially would allow a fourth team, to represent Public Service members of the ADF, to compete in 2007.
