DASHING (above): ABMT Adam Crich joined his father, Peter, in this year’s Targa Tasmania rally. Their Toyota travelled nearly 3,000km over six days and experienced some wild weather including rain, hail and sleet.

HMAS Success sailor ABMT Adam Crich teamed with his father to take part in this year’s Targa Tasmania rally. Driving a Toyota MR2, the team finished in 53rd place overall and first in the 7SSA category.

ABMT Crich and his father, Peter, have been rallying as a team in Amsag and NSW state forest rally events since 2000.

The 2005 Targa event was the first bitumen rally event the father and son combination had ever raced in and was run over six days and nearly 3,000kms.

After taking part in the prologue race in Georgetown, the Crich team started the race in 91st position and worked its way up to 66th position after the first day.

There were plenty of trials and tribulations along the way including one day where the team experienced heavy rain, snow, sleet, strong winds and hail.

The team also had a scare on one of the town stages that saw the car end up in someone’s front yard.

“Overall the car was fantastic,” ABMT Crich said.
