CYCLE
WARRIOR: The concept is good but the execution
poor.

Robotech
Invasion PS2, XBox
The game:
Robotech Invasion is an Americanised cartoon that chronicles
the adventures of Scott Bernard and his crew as they
fight the monstrous Invid for control of the Earth.
Their mission is to rid the planet of the alien Invid
that planned on continually colonizing our world and
in order to achieve this Cyclone action, which offers
onfoot and motorcycle play modes.
Straight up this appears to be technically obsolete
and often unpolished compared to the big budget games
such as HALO 2. As it is heavily based on foot and motorcycle
action it is classed as both a first and third-person
shooter.
The play:
The game’s 3D environments offer freeform action in
expansive outdoor environments swarming with, unfortunately
absurdly stupid enemy AI (if you can side step and shoot
you’ve mastered the game!).
There are two parallel scenarios: playing as the second
character reveals a new perspective and plot details.
Control Cyclone vehicles lack a realistic feeling of
momentum, balance and traction.
The experience:
This game is quite underwhelming in the graphics department
it does offer a lot of onscreen action at any given
time.
The one positive feature – it is designed in such a
way so that there is rarely, if ever, a segment of loading.
Only where the environments change dramatically do you
have to stop and wait for one breath to continue. In
that solitary aspect it’s very well done – just a shame
that the rest of the game is poor.
