If you’re under 60 this is about as close to experiencing VE Day as you’re gong to get. The Colour of War – Victory in Europe is a visual delight.

It takes the viewer on an original in-colour journey that captures the emotional and euphoric celebrations of the day that signified the end of six years of suffering.

Original colour footage from around the world depicts street celebrations, intimate family reunions and footage of the times that is a rare privilege to view.

Accompanied by eye witness accounts, emotive letters and diaries, it conveys the unbridled excitement and emotions of the day, and, as a counterpoint, shows the bittersweet experience of those who mourned loved ones and of those who lost the sense of purpose the war had provided.

It’s a great mix of entertainment and history lesson.
