Money for suggestions

The Navy Suggestion Scheme is an incentive scheme that is open to all uniformed and civilian members of the Navy.

It is aimed at encouraging members to think about and propose changes that will benefit the Navy. These changes can be in their immediate working area or in a wider Navy context.

The scheme provides financial rewards of up to $1000 for individuals and groups of staff who make suggestions that are implemented or considered worthy of recognition.

To make a suggestion, just fill out a form (AA411 – Navy Suggestion Scheme Submission - available on the Web Forms System.

Alternatively call LCDR Paul Lashko on 02-62667539 for an emailed form), add the relevant paperwork to support your suggestion, get your supervisor to sign it and forward it to:
Directorate of Navy Improvement Strategies,
RAN Suggestion Scheme Manager,
R1-4-C027,
Russell Offices, Canberra 2600.

Family Day

Community organisations across Canberra are preparing to welcome 150 new defence families to the region at the inaugural Defence Familiy Picnic- Belong 05 on Sunday February 20.

The Navy Jazz Band will be filling the surrounds with tunes while the children will be entertained with jumping castles, three legged races and balloon artists.

Defence Housing Authority, Defcredit and the Defence Community Organisation are proudly supporting the event.

The day commences at 1000 at Weton Park Yarralumla (opposit the miniature train) and concludes at 1400, a sausage sizzle is available or families are welcome to bring their own picnic.

Early promotion

In our story “Navy goes to doctor”, published on page ten of our December 16 edition, we suggested Dr Hoare was a “young surgeon Lieutenant” when he walked through the gates of the college.

He was in fact a “young cadet Midshipman” and only took up medicine later.
