Sport gains boost

The RANCCF Board has approved a donation of $250,000 to the Navy Sports Council which is an increase of $70,000 on its contribution last financial year.

Over 25 sporting bodies affiliated with the Navy Sports Council will benefit from the donation.

The RANCCB, through the financial assistance provided over the years, has been instrumental in developing sport in the RAN.

All financial support is derived from levies received from canteens and the net profit from Navy Holiday Centres.

WO Mike Winter, the Navy’s Senior PTI Operations Manager of the Navy Sports Council, said the RANCCB aims to assist in the rejuvenation of Navy sport through financial assistance.

It would allow the respective sporting bodies to acquire uniforms and equipment, which has in the past been difficult to purchase through normal means.

WO Winter said the RANCCF donation would make a huge and positive difference to Navy sport.

He said the Navy Sports Council was very grateful for this donation and its Chairman CDRE Kevin Taylor has written to the Chairman of the RAN Central Canteens Board thanking him for the Board’s support of Navy sport.

Mr Barnie Van Wyk, CEO of the RANCCF said that future business initiatives like the recently launched CCFSHOP www.ccfshop.com
will assist the RANCCF to secure more revenue to provide more funds to Navy sport along with other initiatives for sailors.

The RANCCF online shop, provides officers and sailors the opportunity to access a wide range of discounted products like ship’s crests, logos and momentoes.

Meanwhile, the RANCCF website www.ranccf.com aims at providing information on the management of the RANCCF and access to recreational and other benefits.

By visiting www.ccfshop.com personnel can find an array of Navy merchandise such as baseball caps, flasks, pins, shirts and much more.
