Navy personnel advance Australia


The Governor-General is pleased to announce the following appointments and awards made to members of the Royal Australian Navy:

OFFICER (AO) IN THE MILITARY DIVISION RADM Kevin John SCARCE AM CSC, ACT
For distinguished service in logistics management and acquisition as the Head, Maritime Systems Division in the Defence Materiel Organisation.

MEMBER (AM) IN THE MILITARY DIVISION CAPT Allan Kendall DU TOIT, ACT
For exceptional command and leadership as the Commander of the Multi-national Maritime Interception Force enforcing United Nations Sanctions against Iraq as part of Operation Slipper.

CDRE James GOLDRICK CSC, ACT
For exceptional command and leadership as the Commander of the Multi-national Maritime Interception Force enforcing United Nations Sanctions against Iraq as part of Operation Slipper.

MEDAL (OAM) IN THE MILITARY DIVISION CMDR Martin Stewart CAMPBELL, NSW
For meritorious service, particularly in analysing, training and improving the Navy’s operational forces.

WO Ian Edmond HARVEY, Vic
For meritorious service in recruit training as the Warrant Officer Royal Australian Navy Recruit School.

LCDR Frederick John ROSS, NSW
For meritorious service in operational planning, particularly in support of OpFalconer, and for services to the Australian Defence Force’s amphibious warfare capabilities.

CONSPICUOUS SERVICE CROSS (CSC) CMDR Warren James BAIRSTOW, Vic
For outstanding achievement, particularly in the field of training and development as the Executive Officer HMAS Cerberus.

WO Darren Robert JEFFS, ACT
For outstanding achievement in training and development as Fleet Gunnery Assistant in Australian Fleet Sea Training Group.

CMDR Richard Charles LEAHY, NSW
For outstanding achievement in logistics support management as the Commanding Officer at Joint Logistic Unit-West from January 2001.

CMDR Willem Marinus VAN BOHEEMEN, NSW
For outstanding achievement and engineering skill while employed as the Engineering Officer in HMAS Kanimbla.

CPO Dale Richard ZANKER, NT
For outstanding achievement, particularly in the performance of medical assistance during the rescue of 164 persons from a Suspected Illegal Entry Vessel (SIEV 10).

CONSPICUOUS SERVICE MEDAL (CSM) PO Neil Geoffrey ANDERSON, NSW
For outstanding service in training development as a Leadership and Management Instructor at the Sailors’ Leadership and Management Faculty within Navy Systems Command.

LEUT Kenneth Douglas FERGUSON, WA
For outstanding service in the field of engineering and maintenance planning as the Maintenance Manager at the ANZAC System Program Office.

WO Terence Stephen IMMS, Qld
For outstanding service and excellence as the Executive Officer HMAS Tarakan.

WO Harold Hugh O’HARE, NSW
For outstanding service and leadership as the Operations Officer at Naval Communications Station Canberra.
