Periscope
maintenance for the Collins Class submarines will remain in Australia
thanks to a new multi-million dollar contract.
The five-year contract, worth $4.76 million, ensures Navy and BAE
Systems Australia will retain all periscope maintenance capabilities.
This removes any threat of maintenance returning to the United Kingdom.
The contract provides support for the periscope maintenance facility
in Adelaide as well as ongoing technical advice from the original
periscope manufacturers, Thales Optronics.
