The
sea itself was the last unknown element for two SMNSNs from HMAS
Cairns in relation to their careers in the RAN.
SMNSN Mark OKeefe and SMNSN Jayson Adkins have gained enough
experience to know that the Navy is the life for them even though
neither had been to sea.
When LSSN Markus McEwen offered Mark and Jayson a day at sea on
HMAS Brunei, when she was doing power trials after refit, they
jumped at the opportunity.
Markus took them under his wing and gave a glimpse of what the
duties of a sea-going storbie entailed.
Despite a one metre swell and the unique movement of the LCH,
both sailors passed the test with flying colours and now look
forward to their own sea postings.
